I started this thread for open conversation about ship manufacturers and models you want to buy, trade, or sell.- This thread is intended to be used for casual conversations about ships.
- No flaming
- Constructive thoughts are encouraged
- Stay on topic - we're talking about ships only, here.
I currently own an Aurora LN but I'm thinking about buying a Origin 300 series. Since I already own a ship that's capable of exploration and combat, what 300-series model should i go with? Listed from least to most expensive: - 300i is a basic dog-fighting platform. Nothing extremely extravagant or mean.
- 315p has a tractor beam and long range capabilities for exploration (but I already have an OK exploration ship). I like this though, because of the tractor beam. We could use it to move wreckage and/ or mining, or even as a platform for capturing enemy fighters.
- 325a is a fighter. Both the Origin 300s and the Aurora can be retro fitted for combat.
What are your thoughts? Should I be looking at another class of ship or will any of the above suggested help out the org?

Hmm. I tried to see what the best value was for what I wanted to do for a single person. My thought process was that I certainly wanted cargo and I wanted range. I pieced together what had been leaked about the 300 series and I learned that the 300i is optimized for long range travel. There isn't anything about the luxury feel of the craft that makes a difference to me, but I do like that it seems to beat the Aurora in every metric we can see so far so I went with it for my first ship.
As for the 315 and the 325, I didn't really have a way to compare them without seeing the PU or the DFM for myself. I always planned to trade up to the best ship once that came out. Maybe that's the best way to go. Let's try to figure out the pros and cons of all the crafts as we go.

Thanks for your knowledgeable input, @gmunu!
I'll probably wait until DFM releases multiple ship types to settle on buying another. I may melt down the Aurora LN because of its lower cargo hold capabilities. We need ships that can handle cargo to make some money in PU. 5 tons vs 8 tons seems to be a big difference in my opinion.
Would really like a high capacity transport or corvette some day, we'll see.

I had a thought some time ago that I wanted to share. In a real manned spacecraft, you would want the cockpit to be located at the center of gravity with seats that freely rotate about a sphere such that the thrust is always upwards from the perspective of the pilot. The pilot would be arranged so that they would be simply lying down against a surface so that all the blood is equally distributed during high g-forces.
Star citizen has included g-forces in their game, but also artificial gravity. The most agile ship we can own is one where there isn't any artificial gravity (so that there isn't any direction where we automatically add 1 g to the g-load) and the cockpit is not far from the center of gravity (so that when we turn we don't add extra rotation to the g-load). Please keep this in mind.

Let's bring the forum back to life. Recently got to fly my MIS Freelancer. It was glorious, buggy, and exciting all at the same time. The new design is finished which means the rear gunner seat works (woo-hoo), except the guns do not fire -_-.
